Accelerator hosts HTC Vice President Praveen Gupta
Sacramento, February 7, 2019 — The Capital Region AR VR Accelerator was pleased to host Praveen Gupta, Vice President – Corporate Investments and Development at HTC in Silicon Valley as a guest Subject Matter Expert on Wednesday, January 30. Praveen has an extensive background in investments, partnerships, M&A, strategy, and general management. At HTC he focuses on Virtual/Augmented Reality and Smartphone technologies.
Given many tech start-ups must raise outside investment capital to start and scale their companies — with an ultimate goal of an exit via an IPO or acquisition — understanding the mindset of venture investors, and the unique perspective of strategic corporate investors, is an essential part of the learning process for young companies.
To that end, Praveen spent time over an extended luncheon with the Accelerator’s start-ups sharing his perspective in evaluating, investing in, and supporting numerous technology start-ups throughout his career. Below is a photo of Praveen with representatives of our Capital Region AR VR Accelerator team and the start-ups participating in the cohort.
Prior to his role at HTC, Praveen held a similar role at SK Telecom with a focus on Mobile and IoT technologies. Earlier at CDIB Ventures, as a Partner, he managed 2 VC funds with several successful investments in Enterprise Software, Infrastructure, and Semiconductor companies. He has authored three books related to venture capital. Praveen has held management and technical roles at Lucent, Ericsson, ICL, and Halliburton. He has an MBA and M.S. in Physics, EE, and Computer Science.
